Hollywood actor Christian Oliver, recognized for roles in films such as Speed Racer and Valkyrie, tragically lost his life at 51 in a plane crash along with his two daughters, Madita Klepser (10) and Annik Klepser (12), and pilot Robert Sachs. The single-engine plane crashed into the sea near the Caribbean island of Becquia while en route to St. Lucia.
Local fishermen and divers rushed to the scene before the Coast Guard, recovering the four bodies. The bodies were taken to a St. Vincent mortuary for post-mortems. Oliver, originally from Germany, had a notable career, including roles in the long-running German TV series Alarm für Cobra 11 and the latest Indiana Jones film.
Colleagues and friends, like actress Bai Ling and director Nick Lyon, expressed condolences. Ling remembered Oliver as “a brave actor and a beautiful gentle person.” Oliver’s recent completion of filming Forever Hold Your Peace marked the end of a successful career that began when he moved to the U.S. at 21. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Our thoughts are with Oliver’s family, friends, and fans during this tragic time.
