Cause of Death Revealed

Tony McFarr, the renowned stunt double for Chris Pratt, tragically passed away in May, leaving the Hollywood stunt community in mourning. His death was caused by an irregular heartbeat due to heart valve issues, which were likely exacerbated by heavy drinking, leading to acute alcohol poisoning. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and a history of binge alcohol abuse also contributed, with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .29 found during his autopsy.

McFarr was a highly respected stuntman, known for his work in major films like “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,” “Captain America: Civil War,” and “Ant-Man and the Wasp,” as well as TV shows like “Homeland” and “The Walking Dead.” His partnership with Chris Pratt began with “Jurassic World” in 2015, with Pratt frequently praising McFarr’s expertise and dedication.

His mother, Donna McFarr, shared that his passing was “sudden and shocking.” Tony McFarr was found deceased in his home, where his body had been decomposing for some time before discovery. His death has been classified as accidental, with ongoing toxicology tests.

McFarr is survived by his parents, sister, and daughter. The family plans to lay him to rest near his grandmother in Pennsylvania. His passing is a poignant reminder of the crucial yet often unrecognized role stunt performers play in the film industry, bringing thrilling scenes to life and forming lasting bonds with colleagues.
