In a recent interview, Hollywood legend Robert De Niro opened up about the joys of being a father at 80 to his 9-month-old daughter, Gia Virginia Chen De Niro, born in April last year. De Niro, who shares parenthood with his younger girlfriend, Tiffany Chen, expressed deep emotions, saying, “Everything that I’m consumed with or worried about…just goes away when I look at her.” He paused, emphasizing the “wondrous” impact his daughter has on him.
Reflecting on Gia’s unique qualities, De Niro shared, “She has a very sweet kind of way of looking at you and just taking you in…she’s thinking, she’s observing everything, and watching. It’s really interesting.” The actor expressed his desire to be present for as long as possible to cherish the experience of raising his baby girl.
This isn’t the first time De Niro has spoken about his enjoyment of fatherhood. Last year, he enthusiastically described it as “great” and marveled at Gia being “just an adorable young, little innocent thing.” De Niro also shared his happiness for co-star Al Pacino, who, like him, welcomed a child in his later years.
